WHAT ARE WE LEARNING: Building a productive and successful Yearbook!

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT: A well-organized yearbook foundation is key in building a yearbook. Planning from the beginning will help us work as a team and most importantly be successful!

HOW WILL MY TEACHER KNOW WHAT I LEARNED: Today we will begin building our spreads and giving each other feedback along the way!

Club Headlines...

Each Spread will have a specific headline that YOU will come up with!

Click ON YOUR ASSIGNED Downloadable IND File (below)!

In the new tab, click DOWNLOAD

All club pages MUST be done twice (Left and right!)

Select YOUR CLUB layout to work on!

Click on the Layout image.

Click Download

(It should download into your Yearbook folder...if not check your downloads folder!)

Some alternative fonts...

Open InDesign

Make sure you are on Essentials Classic!

Click the WINDOW tab...

WORKSPACE>ESSENTIALS CLASSIC

In your Yearbook folder...Double click to open the Layout you downloaded!

It should open in InDesign!

Then to see the entire spread, choose VIEW (tab on top)> FIT SPREAD IN WINDOW

NOTE the SHORTCUT!

SAVE (as) YOUR DOCUMENT!

Shortcut: Shift + Ctrl + S

(or File: SAVE AS)

Select

SAVE TO CREATIVE CLOUD

Next to SAVE AS...

RENAME THE FILE!

Your First Initial Last Initial CLUB NAME (Remember be specific!)

Example: TE BSU

Then click SAVE on the bottom right corner to save it to Creative Cloud

Then click OK

This is telling us we have links to our document that are on our Hard Drive...this is OK

Now you should see a cloud icon and a suffix .inddc

The file should now auto save and will be save to Creative cloud.

Layers...

On the right you should see your properties panel...

Click on the Layers panel

All of the layers are LOCKED

To UNLOCK a layer, click on the little pad lock next to the name.

Work through the CLUB layout the same way you do a regular event layout!

It is good practice to keep layers locked when you are not specifically working on them!

Remember to lock the layer after you are done working on it!

When you are done adding text...

LOCK THE LAYER!

Place the GROUP PHOTO in the PINK Box!

Remember! You might have to adjust the text frame to fit the text...

Select the Selection Tool (Black Arrow) to move the text is necessary!

Hey! If your club doesn't have any photos, YOU haven't done YOUR job! Go take some!!!

Adding Photos...Just like in our spread layouts but....

Clubs that have taken GROUP photos:

Art Club, Chess Club, Hoover Rocks, Latin Moves, Latin Student Union, Lego Club, Science Enrichment, Women's Alliance, Men's Alliance, Baking & Cooking Club, Bread of Life, Laos Club, Asian Club, K Club, Key Club

For these pages, they will be only ONE (1) page BUT since the order has NOT been decided we need to add photos to BOTH mirroring pages!

So if you add a photo to Page 2 (the left page)...add the same photo to page 3 (the right page)

To change the view of a folder, on the top right, click the "Change Your View" pull down and select EXTRA LARGE ICONS

YEARBOOK CLUB PHOTOS MUST BE COMPLETE BEFORE MARCH 10!

Go get your club photos now!

SHORTCUT TO LOG OFF COMPUTER!

Remember to SAVE (ctrl + S) any file before doing this shortcut!

Ctrl+Alt+Delete then select SIGN OFF!

Please place HEADPHONES on your Monitors!
